Do you like to prepare daily meals for people or do you prefer to take care of them during their special night out? As a trainee chef you will have learnt an extensive knowledge of all kinds of dishes and preparation techniques. You know the difference between frying, cooking and baking. You can also distinguish a béchamel-sauce from a Hollandaise-sauce. With the help of your kitchen-chef most of the preparation activities should go smoothly.
With this course you acquire a Dutch level 2 diploma and (optionally) the British BTEC-first diploma in Hospitality.
What will the study be like?
Some important competences that you need in your professional surroundings are:
- a practical approach to your work
- a service oriented attitude
What will you learn?
- basic preparatory kitchen skills
- cooking and finishing dishes and courses with the help of a chef
What previous education is required?
Meeting one of these requirements is enough to qualify:
- vmbo-certificate, basic vocational track, consumer or similar training
An interview or test may be part of the admission procedure.
Special requirements
- an average of 7 for English
- the requirements to start the course are a guideline; entrance is also dependent on competencies and skills of the individual student
- a work placement in an international organisation is an essential part of the training; a work placement abroad would be possible when you are 18 years or older; the Hotel School encourages all activities to develop international experience, ask your contact person for more information
