Is this career for you? As an International Beauty Therapist, you will be an all-round beautician with an added extra! On this unique programme, you will learn the ins and outs of being a beauty therapist. On completion, you will not only have your Dutch diploma, but also an official English diploma (levels 2 and 3). You will have the skills to treat international clients, perform relaxation and cosmetic treatments and provide the right skincare advice. In the international city of Amsterdam, there is demand for beauty therapists who are also able to work with international clients. With this bilingual programme, we are actively responding to this trend and wider developments in the beauty sector.
The social skills you develop and experience of the English language will enable you to create an experience for every international client. Armed with the accompanying diploma, you will be ready for a future on the international labour market and the amazing opportunities it has to offer.

The bilingual International Beauty Therapist programme is a three-year, level-4 school-based (BOL) learning pathway. It features bilingual senior secondary vocational education (MBO). This means that you will be taught in both English and Dutch. At the end of the programme, you will be awarded the following diplomas: Allround Schoonheidsspecialist niveau 4 (All-round beauty therapist, level 4, Dutch, English diploma, Level 2 in Beauty Specialist Techniques, English diploma, Level 3 in Beauty Therapy Treatments These diplomas prepare you for working with target groups from across the world found in Amsterdam. You will be taught at the MBO College Zuid, right next to the Zuidas business district, RAI Exhibition Centre and Amsterdam Zuid station.
During the programme, you will focus a lot on the theory of the trade. You will learn to apply the knowledge you acquire immediately. In order to learn your trade, you will also perform treatments on fellow students and models. During the programme, you will develop your entrepreneurial skills, enabling you to start your own business.
You will spend the first and second year at college and on work placement. You will also provide treatments to models and clients. In the third year of the programme, you will also attend classes at college and complete an 11-week work placement, with the opportunity to do this abroad.

This programme takes you a step further than the regular all-round beauty therapist programme. As well as providing different treatments on all skin types, including men’s skin and coloured skin, you will also do more in-depth and challenging courses. Here a list of some of the extra courses and the language in which they are taught:
Courses in English: Cosmetic treatment of hands, nails and feet, Receiving, treating and advising international clients, Providing international clients with an optimum experience, Giving international clients personal skincare advice, Hospitality skills, Facial treatments (extra: eyebrow threading), Body treatments, including various waxing techniques.
English Courses in Dutch: Treating acne, Performing a cosmetic massage using the Shiatsu method, Performing a skin-improving massage, Entrepreneurship, Options, such as make-up, pedicure and sports massage, Dutch, Basic mathematics.
